What is Sky Mobile TV?

The Sky Mobile TV app allows you to watch Sky Sports 1,2 and 3 as well as Sky Sports News, Sky Sports Extra, Sky News, At The Races and ESPN.

The Sky Mobile TV app currently works over Wi-Fi. All our iPhone tariffs include unlimited Wi-Fi access at over 7,500 BT Openzone and The Cloud Wi-Fi hotspots in the UK (including most Starbucks). Find out your nearest Wi-Fi hotspot.

Is all content available?

Due to restrictions, a small amount of content is not available. This includes WWE, HBO Boxing, MLB, Serie A and NCAA.

How much does the Sky Mobile TV cost?

Subscription to the live service is £6 per month.

During the 3 months free period, we'll send texts to remind you that you'll be paying £6 per month for the app after the 3 months is over. If you'd like to unsubscribe from Sky Mobile TV you can visit skyid.sky.com/signin/mobiletv to do so.

Is there a minimum subscription period?

There is a minimum subscription period of 1 calendar month.

When I login to my Sky account online it shows my free 3 months subscription only lasting one month, why is that?

As the subscription renews monthly if you login to your Sky account online or on the iPhone then the 3 month free subscription will show as renewing 1 month from the date it is taken out at the price of £0.00. This will happen every month until the 3 months is up at which point it will renew at the price of £6.00 unless you choose to unsubscribe at skyid.sky.com/signin/mobiletv.

Can I use the application if I'm not subscribed?

Yes. This application also allows you to browse the channel line-up for free and see what's on offer over the next 24 hours. But, you need to subscribe to watch the live TV.

Is there a minimum term or notice period for unsubscribing?

You can unsubscribe from the application at any time, whether it's the free O2 promotion or not. The subscription period for the application is 1 calendar month, paid in advance. If you cancel during this period the subscription will remain valid and you continue using the App until the calendar month has passed.

How do I unsubscribe from Sky Mobile TV?

You can unsubscribe at skyid.sky.com/signin/mobiletv.

Can I pay for my subscription with my O2 Money card?

O2 customers who sign up with an O2 money card will be charged 10p if they sign up for 3 months free when they enter their card details. This is an authentication check that Sky use to check that the card is valid. O2 Money Card customers will find that their balance is debited by 10p; this is then credited back to their O2 Money Card 15 working days later.

Can I subscribe with a debit card?

You can currently subscribe using a Visa Debit Card (including O2 Money) but due to restrictions imposed by the banks currently Maestro branded debit cards are not accepted. You can of course apply for an O2 Money card at http://money.o2.co.uk/ which will be accepted by Sky for the Mobile TV service.

What security measures in place to protect my debit / credit card details?

The sign up page is HTTPS and this can be seen on the Safari Browser page with the lock symbol show at the top of the browser. The security level is exactly the same as Internet Banking.

Can I use the Sky Mobile TV application with 3G/HSDPA instead of Wi-Fi?

The application will not allow streaming over 3G or HSDPA, a pop up box will appear advising that Sky Mobile TV requires a Wi-Fi connection to view live TV.

Is the App truly live or is there a delay in streaming?

The channels are streamed live however there may be a delay of up to 1 minute in common with other Internet streaming services.

How much data will the App use per minute / hour?

The application streams at a very high quality rate of 512 kbps. Watching continually streaming over 30 minutes would consume around 112 MB of Wi-Fi data.

Will the speed of Wi-Fi available affect live streaming e.g. will it buffer throughout or be seamless?

A solid 2 MB broadband connection should be able to view high quality video via the Sky Mobile TV service. This is dependent upon the strength of the Wi-Fi connection and how many other users are using the same connection. This is a service delivered through the Internet so buffering will occur in some circumstances and in busy Wi-Fi hotspots.

I don't have an iPhone can I get the App for my device?

The App is only available for iPhone through iTunes.

How do I report a fault?
